What Do I Do Now? What do you do once you have discovered your loved one is using drugs? Listed below are some things you want to consider when it is Ɵme to act. PRAY! – Seek direcƟon and strength from God. SEEK – counsel and advice from your pastor or church leader. OFFER – Love & Support if they come to you. DO NOT allow your shock, anger, confusion, and fear to cause you to lash out, condemn, blame. DO let them know you are glad they came to you, offer love and support and immediately start the process of getting help. SEARCH – use Google for “faith-based drug treatment” in your area DETOX – Your loved one may have serious withdrawal symptoms. Seek medical aƩenƟon at the ER where they may also be able to connect you to a detox facility if they cannot help. CONFRONT – If you discover the drug use before they come to you, confront them with the evidence. This gives them the opportunity to confess. They may confess and ask for help or they may deny and be angry and defensive. INTERVENTION – It is needed if they deny the drug use. It can mean confronƟng with firmness and love or contacƟng the authoriƟes, if needed. If your loved one is willing to get help, start the above process immediately.
